Message From Marlis
I have been baking for as long as I can remember. I learned how when I was old enough to hold a spoon and scrape a bowl. My Mother baked when I was young and still, at 90, bakes almost every day. Baking was always a special time that we shared together. While I was growing up we followed a German tradition of 3:00 coffee break with cake. Cakes filled with fruits, nuts, chocolate and especially lots of cream. This was a time to get together with our family and to have friends visit, creating my most cherished memories. I studied under my mother and my husband’s mother, who was also a Chef from Germany, they both were able to make an art out of baking. All my cakes are made in that same European style of baking. Most are what you would call a “Torte”. A Torte is a European layer cake, most often layered with butter cream or whipped cream and topped with nuts, fruit, chocolate Ganache and more cream icing. I use only the freshest ingredients and no preservatives. Whether you eat cake for dessert or indulge any time of the day it should be a time to relax. My favorite time for cake is when I get together with family and friends, sharing lots of laughter and Ohh yes, there must be a lot of Cakes too. I hope you enjoy my cakes and let me help you create some of your own special Memories.
